TL;DR
- Renders and some features of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 have leaked.
- The smartwatch looks to have a thicker chassis and wider straps.
- It should come with the revamped Wear OS software.
Samsung is expected to launch two new smartwatches with various models on June 28. The star of the show will the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, but the firm is also expected to announce the Galaxy Watch Active 4, the successor to the popular Galaxy Watch Active 2. Now, tipster OnLeaks, in collaboration with GizNext, has leaked the first renders of the new Active series wearable along with some details about its features.
As seen in the renders, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 retains the circular display of its predecessor. The leakers claim that a flat 2D glass protects the screen.
The most notable changes can be seen in the design of the frame, buttons, and band. The watch itself seems thicker and so does the band. The two buttons on the right edge of the device also have a different shape.
Leaked information suggests that the body of the Galaxy Watch Active 4 is made of aluminum. It will come in 40mm and 44mm sizes, just like the Galaxy Watch Active 2.
The smartwatch is also shown in four different colorways, including black, silver, green, and gold. However, the shades depicted in these renders are not 100% accurate.
As far as features are concerned, the leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 will carry the new Wear OS 3.0 software. Samsung and Google have collaborated to revamp Wear OS and the new smartwatch should be one of the first wearables to bring it to market.
Elsewhere, the leakers claim that the watch will use a 5nm processor, so it can’t be one of Qualcomm’s 12nm Snapdragon Wear 4100 chips or Samsung’s home-brewed 10nm Exynos 9110 chipset that runs the Galaxy Watch Active 2.
Unfortunately, the leak doesn’t disclose any other information about the watch’s health and fitness features, but you won’t have to wait long to find out since the launch is next week.
