- A new Samsung charger has been certified by TUV.
- The charger can negotiate up to 65W with compatible devices.
- It’s unclear when the charger will make its debut.
Samsung hasn’t traditionally focused on fast-charging solutions for its smartphones. The company introduced 45W tech to its lineup in recent years, languishing behind competitors now breaking the 100W barrier. Although the firm doesn’t seem close to touching this figure, it is seemingly set to launch a new fast charger of its own.
Spotted by MySmartPrice, a recent TUV listing points to an imminent launch of a new Samsung charger. The unit, bearing the model number EP-TA865, was first spotted in Korea in September 2020.

Supporting 20 volts at 3.25 amps, it would allow the charger to hit 65W with a supported device. This would make it Samsung’s fastest mobile phone charger to date. The unit is also said to support USB PD PPS — a real-time voltage negotiation standard that should improve charging performance.

For Samsung, 65W would be a massive leap. The company announced the Galaxy S21 series without bundled chargers but limited the devices’ charging support to just 25W. While the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 10 Plus welcomes 45W charging, anything above 25W for Samsung is rare.
Considering Samsung’s new stance on bundling chargers with flagships, it’s unlikely the 65W unit will be found nestled alongside a future Galaxy device. However, the charging speed may give us a glimpse into Samsung’s renewed targets. We wouldn’t rule out seeing a future device with rapid charging smarts.
There’s also a chance Samsung could be preparing the charger for use with tablets or laptops in a similar vein to Xiaomi. The Chinese firm debuted a 65W charger with the Mi 10 Pro last year that could also charge the firm’s laptops.
There’s no word on when this charger will make its debut, but it’s likely that Samsung will charge a pretty penny for one. Last year, the company asked users to fork out $50 for its 45W Galaxy S20 Ultra charger. It wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine this charger would cost users a little more.
